Hi, my name is Amy Roach, and I’m fundraising for my father, Greg Roberts, who recently suffered a life-altering medical crisis that has left him with severe spinal injuries and long-term health challenges. This has turned his life—and our family’s—completely upside down.
On Monday, July 21st, while working in his garden, my father experienced a sudden and serious cardiac episode. The lower chambers of his heart stopped beating in rhythm with the upper chambers, causing him to lose consciousness and collapse.
He was rushed to the hospital, not knowing what was going on. While in the ICU, the doctors discovered his heart condition had caused the fall and determined that he required the placement of a specialized pacemaker to regulate his heart function and prevent future incidents.
The injury also resulted in immediate paralysis in both his arms and legs, requiring spinal fusion surgery to fuse the vertebrae from C4 to T2. Since the surgery, he has regained limited mobility in his arms and left leg, but he still has no movement in his fingers or toes.
Now, he faces a long and uncertain road to recovery. He must be transferred to a Spinal Rehabilitation Facility in Washington, D.C., where he will receive the specialized care and therapy he needs to regain as much mobility and independence as possible.
This is where we need your help.
My parents live on a fixed income and rely solely on Social Security. With only Medicare, they are facing a mountain of expenses that are not covered—rehab, medical equipment, medications, travel, and more.
Additionally, my mother will need to travel to Washington, D.C. to support him and actively participate in his rehabilitation process. She will require help with:
Travel and possible lodging near the facility
Daily living expenses (food, transportation, etc.)
Out-of-pocket medical costs and ongoing care needs
Your donation will go directly toward:
Spinal rehabilitation and therapy not fully covered by Medicare
Cardiac care and pacemaker monitoring
Medical transport and assistive equipment
Temporary housing and travel expenses for my mother
In-home modifications and long-term care support
My father has always been a kind, generous, hardworking, and selfless man—someone who never hesitated to help others. Now, he needs our help more than ever.
Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference. If you’re unable to give, please consider sharing this with your network. Your support, prayers, and kindness mean more than words can express.
With heartfelt thanks,
Greg's daughter - Amy
