Support Greg Dirst's Life-Saving Lung Transplant

Donation protected
Hey everyone! My name is Madison Wilson and I am asking for some financial assistance for the medical expenses that come with a double lung transplant for my dad, Greg Dirst.
My dad was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in September of 2024. After running a lot of tests, the doctors were able to find that he has a genetic mutation that presents itself with symptoms that include a chronic cough and low oxygen levels. Pulmonary fibrosis is a progressive lung disease that causes irreversible scarring (fibrosis) in the lungs. The scarring stiffens the lungs and makes breathing increasingly difficult. In the last 14 months, we have watched my dad consistently weaken every day. He is now on full time supplemental oxygen.

My dad has undergone an extensive series of testing in order to qualify for a life-saving lung transplant. At the beginning of November 2025, we received the news we had been praying for: he is officially on the transplant list. Once a donor match is found, his surgery will take place at Emory Hospital in Atlanta.
This journey has taken a tremendous toll on our family. My dad has faced overwhelming physical and emotional challenges, and my mom has become his full-time caregiver, standing by his side every step of the way.

Following the surgery, Emory requires lung transplant patients to remain within six miles of the hospital for at least three months in case rejection of the new lungs occurs. With this requirement comes a number of unavoidable and substantial expenses. In addition to the surgery itself, our family is responsible for the ICU stay, ongoing post-operative evaluations, temporary housing, food, and transportation as we support my dad through recovery.

Asking for help is never easy. But any contribution—no matter the size—will directly support my dad’s fight for a second chance at life. If you are unable to donate, we kindly ask that you shower our family in prayers and share this page with others.
We trust that God is with us through every step of this journey. More than anything, my dad dreams of watching his granddaughter grow up and returning to his passion: coaching.

Thank you for your love, support, and generosity. Your kindness means more to us than words can express.

With love,
Madison and family
