Support Greg Caruso's Family in Their Time of Need

I am Anthony, brother of Greg Caruso, loving husband and the father of two beautiful children. All his life, he was a helpful person to people, friends, and family. A good-natured person and innocent soul. Greg has been sick for over a year; it started out with a lung infection. His son, Michael, had recognized this, and Greg was at home. Greg did not want to go to the hospital, but luckily he did because he would have died at that time. The hospital found he had Lyme disease and shingles in his blood, and spinal meningitis manifested from that. Greg had his ups and downs this past year. The hospital did what they could for him, but they sent him to a rehabilitation center, and he started making a comeback, which was very hard for him. The infections he had took a toll on his mind and his body. He was always strong and fit, and from this battle, you would not recognize him. He still showed his love for his family, but you could see over time he did not understand what was happening to him. These last few weeks, he showed another infection and was transferred to Riverside Hospital Rehabilitation, where they did not monitor him properly. He stopped breathing; we do not know how long he stopped breathing because he did not have a pulse monitor. Hartford Hospital revived him, but it was too long without oxygen, and the MRI test shows his brain is not functioning. The results are from too long of a period without oxygen; the brain is swollen and will only continue to swell. The man I know as my brother is no longer. The prognosis is that he will die.

The effort of starting this page is to somewhat relieve the financial burden from his family that has suffered this past year. His wife has had to keep the household going. The medical bills are outrageous, and in the end, they could lose their home. The money will go directly to Greg's family and it will only be used for a funeral and ease their financial stress. I know money is tight for everyone, but this is for Greg and his family. They really need the help. Give what you can; a little bit can add up to a lot.
With love and sadness, we share that Gregory Caruso passed on Thursday night at the age of 64.
