Hi, we are Kris and Chad and this is our baby girl Graycie. She was in a car accident on the way to the vet, got out of her carrier, and jumped out of a broken window. The airbags going off terrified her. That was on 9/13/24. Despite our greatest efforts, she was missing for 2 months. We just got a call yesterday from some very kind neighbors who found Graycie in their garage. We immediately ran to get her and found her to be very sick. Finally, after locating a 24-hour vet that was able to take her in, she has been under their care for the past 24 hours.
During the 2 months that our girl was missing, she lost 9 pounds. She is jaundiced, has very labored breathing, is not interested in food or water, and without a blood transfusion, will likely pass away from kidney failure. She requires around-the-clock medical care and monitoring at the hospital, but the doctors are encouraged that with these and other lifesaving procedures, she can make it through her upcoming medical challenges.
Graycie is 5 years old and was adopted from a rescue by us as soon as she was old enough. She came as a bonded pair with her sister Millie, whom we also adopted at the same time. Chad and I were never able to have children of our own, so, small as it may be, these girls, along with a dog named Riley, make up our little family. Graycie is such a vital part of this family that it breaks our hearts thinking we could lose her.
This last year, Chad needed to take some time to help his mom after her husband passed away and is having a difficult time finding full-time work in his field. I have battled health issues for many years and finally had to stop working a few years ago. I have filed for disability and am waiting to hear the outcome. Graycie has been such a loving support to us during these difficult years, and we cannot imagine a life without her. We are so ecstatic that she has been found after this amount of time and are encouraged by her fighting spirit over these past 2 months on the streets. She has always been a strong girl, but we have never seen her struggle like she is now. If you are able, we are asking for a small donation to put toward Graycie's recovery, as well as any thoughts, prayers, and wishes for her healthy return to our family. Thanks to our community for all your help in finding our girl, now we just need to get her well enough so she can come home. Thank you for your time!
