Support Single Dad, Grant Clark's Heart Recovery Journey
Donation protected
Grant Clark, of Colorado Springs, CO, is a dedicated single dad to his 10-year-old son Jett. For the past 15 years, Grant has worked long hours cleaning up waste for Republic Services®, a trash management company. However, this past year has been challenging for him due to heart troubles.
On Monday, June 10, 2024, during his last run, Grant experienced chest pains after dropping off his second-to-last load of waste at the transfer station at almost 5 pm. He informed his co-workers before returning to his truck to pick up the last load. As he drove away, he crossed into oncoming traffic, hitting a parked vehicle and stalling out in the median, resulting in a cardiac arrest.
His co-workers and two bystanders rushed to the scene, pulled him out of his truck, and administered CPR. After 15 minutes of CPR, they managed to keep his organs alive and oxygen flowing to his brain. Paramedics took him to UCHealth Memorial Hospital Central, where he was induced into a coma for 24 hours and received therapeutic hypothermia to allow his brain and organs to rest. Luckily, Grant stabilized in the ICU.
On Thursday, June 13, 2024, Grant underwent a defibrillator procedure to jump-start his heart if he experiences cardiac arrest again, allowing him to maintain his CDL to provide for his son. However, he will need 6-8 weeks of recovery before returning to work.
Although Grant is alive and grateful to continue being the best dad to his son Jett, he will have considerable medical bills. He would appreciate any financial contributions and prayers to help him get back on his feet.
