Who We Are

“Grandpa and the 8 Foot Friend” is a senior thesis film written and directed by Alex Vineburg and Cooper Fischbeck. Fueled by friendship and a passion for quality filmmaking, this film aims to explore loss and friendship in a palatable and heavily stylized way.

The Story

“Grandpa and the 8 Foot Friend” focuses on Logan, a young boy who is faced with confronting the loss of his Grandpa without the support of his immediate family. At the wake, his uncle, Colt, seeks to cheer Logan up by sharing an anecdote that Grandpa shared to him when he was a kid. He picks the story of Grandpa and his eight foot friend, which we watch unfold as Colt narrates. Logan learns that his grandfather, when he was little, once had a friend who was a giant, furry, 8 foot tall…thing. Through a whimsical tale of joy, bugs, anger, and reconciliation, Uncle Colt is able to connect with Logan and help him feel less alone in his grief.

What We Need

To shoot this film, we unfortunately need money. With this campaign, we are looking to raise $5,000, though anything extra would make this production go even smoother.
