Our family is asking for help for a man who has spent his entire life helping others — our beloved Grandpa Rick.

Rick is currently in the hospital in Augusta and waiting to be transferred to Portland for a major surgery. As our family prepares for the road ahead, we are hoping to raise funds to help Rick maintain his health insurance coverage each month and ease the financial burden during this difficult time.

If you know Rick, you know he is the kind of person who may not have much, but would give you his last dollar if you needed it. His kindness and generosity have touched so many people over the years. Rick has always been the first one to lend a hand to someone in need.

Many people in the community know Rick from the garage he ran in Somerville for many years, from his time working for the state, driving bus for the Somerville school district back in the day, or from the Town of China transfer station where he currently works. No matter where you met him, you likely remember his friendly personality and big heart.

Above all else, Rick loves his family deeply — especially his grandchildren, who mean the world to him.
