Friends and Family,
As many of you may know, in April of 2024, our dad had to undergo surgery to remove a kidney stone. What we thought would be a simple procedure quickly turned into a life-changing journey when a routine x-ray revealed a tumor. After numerous tests and biopsies, we received the diagnosis that nobody ever wants to receive: the tumor is cancerous.
The doctors in Mobile referred him to Emory in Atlanta in August, as it was the best place to get the treatment needed for Thymic Carcinoma, a rare form of cancer. Further testing at Emory revealed that the cancer had spread to his liver.
In the months since, he has undergone six rounds of intense chemotherapy, from September to December. While the thymic carcinoma responded well, his liver tumor did not respond as well as we'd hoped. He will begin radiation therapy at Emory on March 3rd in hopes of shrinking the liver tumor.
Throughout this journey, our dad has been incredibly brave, but the road ahead is long and uncertain. As a family, we're asking for your support to help ease the financial burden of these treatments. Any contribution—no matter the size—will go directly toward medical expenses, travel costs to Emory, and other necessary care.
We’re so grateful for any help and are deeply touched by the outpouring of love and prayers we’ve already received. If you can’t donate, we covet your prayers. We appreciate you all more than words can say.
Thank you for your kindness, your prayers, and your support.
