My name is Silvia Rose, and Cindy Graciela Garcia Diaz (Gracielita) is my niece. My family and I, including Gracielita, are committed born-again Christians. She is a young, 14-year-old girl. She was born with congenital cataracts, although we were not aware of it at first. As she grew up, we noticed that she had problems with her eyesight. She would lower her head in order to be able to see more clearly.

When she was 2 1/2 years old, her eye doctor diagnosed her with congenital cataracts. Her first operation was on November 21, 2013, followed by another surgery on May 2, 2014. The third operation for the retinal detachment of her right eye was on December 17, 2024.

She was always a happy child even though she was dealing with this situation. She loves to play tennis, and she is in her third year of middle school and will continue high school next year. She wants to play volleyball but has been advised not to, in order to avoid a second retinal detachment. In spite of these limitations, Gracielita has been able to enjoy life. She wanted to participate in a competitive tournament, but her mother did not want her to risk her eyesight further and even asked her teacher to support this decision. "Think of her well-being!"

This is a glimpse of Gracielita's life, due to the struggles with her eyesight, while all her schoolmates are running and playing!

The purpose for this fundraiser is to operate one more time on Gracielita’s right eye. The doctor said that there is no hope of saving the use of this eye, but with this operation if he can save the section of retina that is still attached to her eye, then the eye will continue to look normal even though it will not function. But, the doctor also advised that this operation needs to be done within 30 days. (The price for this operation is 51,000 Mexican Pesos, which is $2500 in American Dollars.) To help her to avoid any more difficulties in her young life, I believe that this operation will be a blessing. Inspite this situation, Gracielita has always kept a young vibrant attitude and I feel that this operation will give her the help she needs to maintain that same vibrant attitude.

Mi nombre es Silvia Rose, y Cindy Graciela Garcia Diaz (Gracielita) es mi sobrina. Mi familia y yo, incluyendo a Gracielita, somos Cristianos. Ella es una jovencita de 14 años. Nació con Cataratas Congénitas, aunque lo supimos al principio. A medida que crecía, notamos que tenía problemas con su vista. Ella siempre bajaba su cabeza para poder ver claramente.

Cuando tenía 2 años y medio, su doctor médico la diagnosticó con Cataratas Congénitas. Su primer operacion fue el 21 de Noviembre del 2013, seguida por otra el 2 de Mayo del 2014. La tercera cirujía para el desprendimiento de retina en su ojo derecho fue el 17 de Diciembre del 2024.

Ella siempre fue una niña feliz aunque estaba pasando por ésta situación. Le encanta jugar tenis y está en tercer grado de secundaria y continuará el próximo año. Quiere jugar volleyball pero se le ha aconsejado por el doctor que no lo haga! para evitar un desprendimiento de retina del otro ojo. A pesar de éstas limitaciones, Gracielita ha podido disfrutar la vida. Ella quería participar en un torneo competitivo pero su mamá no quizo que arriesgara más su vista, y aun le pidió apoyo a la maestra para ésta decisión. “Piense en su BIENESTAR!”

Esto es sólo un vistazo en la vida de Gracielita, debido a las batallas con su vista mientras sus compañeros y compañeras corren y juegan!

El propósito de levantar fondos es la operación una vez más en el ojo derecho. El doctor dijo que no hay esperanza de salvar el uso de éste ojo, pero con ésta operación puede salvarle la sección de la retina que aún está pegada al ojo, así el ojo podrá verse normal aún cuando no funcione. Pero, el doctor aconsejó que ésta operación necesita hacerse dentro de 30 días. (El precio para ésta operación es 51,000 Pesos Mexicanos, que vienen siendo $2,500 dólares.) Para ayudarla a evitar mas dificultades en su juventud, creo que ésta operación será una bendición. A pesar de esta situación, Gracielita ha demostrado una actitud jovial y vibrante y yo siento que ésta operación le dará la ayuda que ella necesita para mantener esa misma actitud.
