Over the past few weeks, our dear friend Graciela has faced a terrifying and life-threatening medical crisis. She was recently admitted to the ICU, where doctors discovered a serious infection affecting her heart and lungs. This emergency required an immediate medevac flight to Anchorage, where Graciela underwent open-heart surgery. Thanks to the incredible medical team and her own strength, she is now recovering — but her journey to full healing will be long and challenging.

Graciela has spent her life caring for others. As a beloved childcare provider in Fairbanks, she has helped raise dozens (if not hundreds) of local children — becoming family to so many in our community. Her compassion, patience, and love have touched countless families who trust her with their most precious little ones. Now, it’s our turn to care for her. With Graciela in the hospital and Tony on unpaid family medical leave, there is no income to cover their growing expenses — from medical bills and travel costs to rent, utilities, and everyday essentials. The financial strain is immense, and they need our community’s support to stay afloat while Graciela recovers.
