Support Graciela Alarcon During Her Battle with Cancer

We are raising funds for my mom Graciela or as many know her, Gracie. She is a mother of four, a grandmother to a new baby girl, and a skilled barber at The Boardroom in Allen.

What Happened

In November 13, 2025, as she was preparing to fly to visit my youngest sister Aileen in college, she was struck with a sharp pain on her side that took her to the ER. There, the doctors found she had a fist sized tumor growing inside her kidney and a clot blocking the largest vein in her body, the Inferior Vena Cava. They diagnosed her with an incredibly rare and aggressive cancer called Leiomyosarcoma. That marked the start of her battle with cancer.

Since then, she underwent a complex and strenuous surgery on Dec 8th to remove the infected kidney and to extract the clots in her system. The surgeons at UT Southwestern did a phenomenal job with the operation and her recovery is going well. Now she will face 5 months of chemotherapy starting late-January to kill off any floating cancer from propagating.

The Impact

As a result of her battle, Graciela has not been able to continue her passion of being a barber and may not be able to work until May or June 2026. Additionally, her physical abilities have been hampered impairing her from doing her daily activities, like going to the gym and playing with her grand-daughter Aubrey.

Between mounting medical bills and months of lost income, the financial strain will be significant as Graciela focuses on her health.
