Support Grace's Move and Legal Battle

One of my favorite neighbors needs our help. If you live downtown, you may know Grace and her pupper, Gertie. She’s a fantastic dog mom, plant mom, and silver screen seamstress. For the past several years, she’s managed to hold it down despite all the turbulence in film industry work here.
But now she needs our help to move to another part of the city for her safety and well-being.
In February, Grace fought off a sexual assault in her home. Unfortunately, when she looked to some of our community for care and support, she received the opposite. When disclosing the assault to her landlord and neighbor of five years, he dismissed her with a crude and degrading remark. Inexplicably, instead of offering support, he began eviction filings for the sole purpose of regaining personal property (not because there was any breach of lease). After making it through eviction court and settling, Grace thought things would settle down; instead, this same landlord brought a crippling lawsuit against her, forcing her to focus on defending herself in court instead of healing from serious trauma.
Grace has used her voice to protect and advocate for herself, as well as look out for the elderly and other women in the community. As a result, she has been targeted by the men she thought cared for her as a tenant, neighbor, and friend. On top of this, her service industry job recently fell through just as the summer slow season is beginning.
As she looks to move into a new spot in another part of the city, and get back into film work, she is seeking help with legal fees to stay on her feet.
