Hello everyone,

My name is Grace, and I’m from Crawford District, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, just beside Black River. I’m raising funds for my entire family and community, who were deeply affected by Hurricane Melissa.

This storm completely destroyed our way of life. My family has lost our roof, furniture, clothes, and almost everything inside the house. The rain soaked what little we had left. Our community — a small fishing village — lost boats, nets, and other tools we depended on to earn a living. Livestock were swept away, and crops are ruined. We now have no electricity, no clean water, and no food supply.

We are trying our best to survive, but the situation is heartbreaking. The elderly, children, and neighbors are sleeping under tarpaulins, and many have nowhere dry to stay.

I’m asking for your help to bring hope and relief to my family and community.

How the Funds Will Be Used

Every dollar raised will go directly toward emergency supplies and rebuilding our lives. Specifically, funds will be used for:

Rebuilding homes (buying zinc sheets, nails, lumber, tarpaulins, and cement)

Food and clean drinking water

Mosquito repellant and nets (to prevent mosquito-borne diseases after the flooding)

Clothing, bedding, and towels

Hygiene and sanitary supplies (toilet tissue, soap, toothpaste, feminine products)

Flashlights, batteries, and candles

Generators or small solar kits for electricity

Cooking gas and basic kitchen utensils

Medical supplies and first aid kits

Fuel and transportation costs to reach relief centers

The goal is to help my family and neighbors rebuild safe homes and regain a sense of normalcy after this disaster.
