Grace, Ruthie, and Amanda have been given the incredible opportunity to travel to Brazil as part of a Capital Union rugby team competing internationally. We are also proud to represent James River Women’s Rugby, the only women’s rugby team in Richmond, Virginia.

Grace and Ruthie are representing James River as players and Amanda as a team manager to help with communications between our opponents and organizing international travel specific to a rugby team. The three of us are funding a majority of the costs for this experience.

This trip provides us the opportunity to continue to grow women’s rugby, our home club, and the CGU (Capital Geographic Union). This opportunity also allows us to grow in our leadership skills, team dynamics, and helps us to understand rugby culture at a deeper level across more diverse backgrounds. As players, Grace and Ruthie have the opportunity to develop their rugby skills and bring new knowledge back to better James River & the CGU. Amanda, as a team manager, has the opportunity to learn how to operate a high functioning rugby club. As members of Richmond’s only women’s rugby team, we take great pride in carrying our community with us to Brazil.
