Believing in the Dream: Grace’s Next Chapter

Hello friends – old and new!

My name is Grace Humphreys, and I am so glad that you have taken a moment to be here. Thank you for your time and for the opportunity to share my dream with you.

My dream has always been to be on Broadway. Since the young age of 8, I have envisioned myself performing on the “Big Stage” singing, acting, and bringing shows to life in front of thousands. I know many kids throughout the years have shared this big dream, while fewer have been able to transform it into a reality. For me, having a dream and shooting for the stars brings me joy and a level of fulfillment I might not otherwise experience. I also know that without trying, I will never know what is possible. Without stepping out in faith, I might never find out who I am supposed to be. So, with a humble heart and from humble beginnings, this is me stepping out, professing my dream and asking for help and support to make it happen.

After graduating from Arcata High School, I plan to venture off to attend the University at Buffalo in New York, where I will study Musical Theater. Geographically, this puts me closer to the heartbeat of Broadway without all the distractions of the “Big City.” I am excited to pursue a degree and more in-depth professional training to better equip me for Broadway auditions, as well as to acquire further life experience.

I was blessed to receive some scholarships and financial aid that will cover about half of the final bill, but the balance for this first year is quite a lot of money for me. I have struggled over this amount and whether it makes more sense to attend the local university instead. Long story short, I have decided to take the leap of faith and trust that it will work out. I know times are difficult, and money is tight for everyone. Please understand that asking for help is something that doesn’t come easily to me. Also, understand that this journey will require much more than money. Consider this my request for any support that you can offer. Prayers, Love, good thoughts, virtual hugs, pocket change, etc... Any support is welcome and appreciated. With faith in God, love and support from my family, and from you I believe anything is possible.
