We are reaching out with heavy hearts and hopeful spirits. On Friday, August 2, 2024, a fire broke out and destroyed roughly 50 storage units, including Gorge Roller Derby’s storage unit. This tragic event has left us without essential equipment, uniforms, and materials crucial to our team’s success and community impact.
What Happened:
The fire on August 2nd was devastating. It destroyed roughly 50 storage units including ours, which held all of our critical event and bout materials.
We lost:
* Skater and track equipment (the big pads that surround the track and keep skaters and fans safe)
* Tables
* Merchandise
* And more
Our loss exceeds $20,000 and without this essential safety gear and equipment, we are unable to host events and bouts in our community.
How You Can Help:
We are turning to our community for support during this challenging time. Your generous donations will go directly towards:
* Replacing lost equipment and protective gear
* Securing a new place to store our gear
* Covering any other essential costs needed to get back to hosting our events and serving our community
Our Goal:
We are aiming to raise $20,000 before our first bout, which will take place in November. Without the track equipment we are unable to hold any bouts

Gorge Roller Derby (GRD) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in the Columbia River Gorge. We are dedicated to empowering both junior and adult skaters, supporting our local community through volunteerism, and providing family-friendly entertainment across The Gorge. Our team is more than just a group of athletes; we are a vibrant community committed to teamwork, fitness, and making a positive difference.
