During the early morning hours on Sunday, December 21, Gordon couldn't see straight, was throwing up bile, and couldn't feel the right side of his face. Alisha, Gordon's wife, drove him to the ER and after getting a CT scan, they found his ventricular artery is blocked. After transferring him to a neurological hospital, it was determined he has Wallenberg syndrome, which is a type of stroke. Doctors are not recommending surgery because the artery is too close to the brain. From here on out, Gordon will not only have to avoid doing certain activities and exercises, he will also need extensive inpatient and outpatient rehab and therapy services.
I first met Gordon when i started my job at Washington University in St. Louis in 2021. Back then, he was a first-year PhD student at the business school where i was hired to be the coordinator in the Doctoral Program Office. Nearly 5 years later, i am now the program advisor in the office and Gordon is in his 5th year of PhD Programs in Strategy and Entrepreneurship. To me, Gordon is more than just a student in our program, he is also an amazing friend. He and Alisha have three beautiful kids together.
Please consider donating to this fundraiser to help out Gordon and Alisha with medical bills while Gordon is on the road to recovery.
