Support Gordon Regan's Memorial Expenses
Donation protected
We are raising funds to pay for the cremation and memorial service for Gordon B. Regan, who passed away on May 11, 2024 at the age of 82. Gordon was an active member in our community - he was an entrepreneur, a member of the Gordonsville United Methodist Church (Gordonsville, VA) choir, and a board member for our town's Board of Architectural Review. He loved antiques and saw the beauty in old things that the rest of us would not give a second glance to. He would visit a bakery to get day-old items to bring to a food bank. On his walks in town, he would stop and visit with his many friends and shopkeepers, and was a font of information about our area. In the mid 1980's he retired from his job at ConEd in New York to move to Gordonsville and take care of his stepmother in her last years. Like many people, it was hard to make ends meet in his later years, and many members of our community went above and beyond to support him. They helped to pay his bills, take him to medical appointments and the grocery store, and made dinner for him.
He was an only child and no immediate family survive him, except for 2 very dear friends who he called brother and sister, who took care of him for many years and moved him into their home for the last few months of his life when he could no longer live alone. These friends are already struggling to support their own family, which includes a disabled adult son who needs round the clock care, and a home that is in need of many repairs. Gordon did not leave any money behind to pay for his final expenses.
Thankfully, we already have support from Preddy Funeral Home, Gordonsville United Methodist Church, and several friends who are providing some financial assistance to cover his last expenses, but we are still falling short and are putting out a plea for anyone who can help us bridge the gap. His dear friends want to lay him to rest under the branches of a tree being planted in their front yard. Please, would you help us?
