Go-Go is the heartbeat of D.C. a sound born from joy, and our superpower. It’s the rhythm that raised generations, brought neighborhoods together, and gave voice to the unheard. But today, the very place built to protect that legacy—the DC Go-Go Museum—is at risk.
We previously raised funding to help us accomplish our goal of opening the museum in historic Anacostia, with doors officially opening on February 19, 2025. However, we are now fundraising to keep our museum operating at full capacity and to expand our programming. At times like this, we cannot afford to go backwards.
As many know, our museum captures over 400 years of D.C. history, American history, and 50 years of Go-Go music. It’s not just a building it’s a living, breathing space where elders reconnect with their past, youth discover their power, and visitors from around the world feel the pulse and heartbeat of a city that refuses to be silenced. But due to recent funding cuts and the climate we now live in, we are asking for your generous donation and your presence in support of the museum.
We want to continue funding programs that allow us to host free concerts and community events, support DC Title 1 school tours, senior homes, and D.C. residents who cannot afford a paid group tour. These efforts make us all proud and give us the courage to use our strengths to keep spreading the joy and history that keeps the heartbeat of the world moving forward.
