Help Build Glostat: Free Unbiased Knowledge Platform

Donation protected
Hello and welcome! My name is Maxim, and I’m fundraising for my personal project - an educational website called Glostat.

I live in the United Kingdom and hold both BA and MA degrees in International Relations from Keele University. With over 15 years of experience as an analyst specializing in international relations, I’ve seen firsthand how difficult it can be to find reliable, unbiased information online.

I’ve built this website entirely from scratch over the course of about a year and a half. Every line of code, every page layout, and every feature has been created and refined by me alone. I’m the only person working on the site, dedicating all my free time, nights, weekends, and any spare moment, to building and improving it. It’s truly a labour of love driven by a belief in open access to reliable knowledge.

Right now, I’m working full-time, but my goal is to make Glostat my full-time job so I can continue improving and expanding the site.

Glostat was born from two main goals:

A Reliable Repository of Unbiased Information

In today’s world, we are flooded with opinions - on social media, news platforms, and even online encyclopaedias. While opinions have their place, they often blur or distort facts. I wanted to build a space where unbiased, trustworthy information is preserved, directly sourced from primary materials like official government documents, international organizations, and respected scholars.

I firmly believe that, given the right tools and access, people can understand complex information and form their own conclusions - independently of others’ biases or misinformation.

Accessible and Well-Organized Knowledge

During my university studies, I struggled to find official documents, speeches, and statistics easily. The information was scattered and often hidden behind poorly designed or confusing websites. Glostat aims to solve this by providing a clear, easy-to-navigate platform that helps students, educators, policymakers, and curious citizens find and understand essential political, economic, and historical data effortlessly.

Structure so far

The platform currently offers free access to global and national statistics, official government documents, white papers, political speeches, etc., as well as clear explanations of political and economic terminology - all organized thoughtfully to make learning straightforward and enjoyable.

The statistics section provides global and national statistics on economics, politics, demographics, and more. All data is clearly presented, well-organized, and sourced from official institutions, making it easier for students, researchers, and the public to understand the world through facts, not opinions.

Each statistics chart on Glostat comes with powerful interactive tools. Users can sort data from low to high (and vice versa), display values as percentages of the total, stack complex datasets, and switch between chart types like bar, line, or filled line. Zooming in and out is also supported, making it easy to explore trends at any level of detail.

Every chart is paired with a corresponding data table that includes filters by name or value, sorting options, and the ability to save favourite entries - making deep analysis easy and customizable for every user.

In addition, Glostat offers a growing archive of official documents, including government white papers, international agreements, political speeches, and institutional reports. All materials are sourced from primary sources and made easy to access, read, and reference.

Documents can be provided in PDF format with light editing tools such as highlighting, annotations, and word search - making it easier to study, cite, and interact with the content directly on the site.

Or can also be presented in plain text format, offering a clean, fast-loading reading option. Both PDF and text versions support smooth, page-by-page scrolling, making it easy to follow lengthy content without constant clicking or reloading.

Glostat features a dedicated terminology section that explains key political and economic terms in simple, accurate language. Each term will be supported by real-world context, quoted from primary sources like official documents, books, and speeches, so users can see how concepts are used in practice, not just theory.

Why I Need Your Support

I’m seeking funding primarily to cover hosting costs so I can expand Glostat with new features like:

  • User comments and discussion forums to foster community learning

  • An AI-powered helper to assist users in quickly finding relevant information

In addition, I want to dedicate more time to expanding all existing sections, including statistics, documents, and terminology, and introduce a new section focused on country-specific facts and overviews, making global learning even more accessible.

Also, if possible, I would like to focus more of my time and energy on this project, turning it into my full-time job and ensuring regular updates, new features, and the long-term sustainability of this free public resource.

If you believe in open knowledge and unbiased education, please support this project with a donation. Every contribution helps me improve Glostat and keep it free for everyone. Thank you!
