Help Honor Gloria Rivera's Legacy

Hello, my name is Jason Rivera, the son of Gloria Consuelo Rivera. My immediate family consists of Ruben Rivera (patriarch), Gloria Rivera (matriarch), Vanessa Perez (eldest child), Rickey Perez (Vanessa's husband) Sofia Valentina (granddaughter) and myself (youngest child). Our family was devastated when we heard the news of my mother's cancer diagnosis. My mother battled hard since 2019, going in and out of the hospital for surgeries and treatments. It has been a difficult time, but as a family, we stayed together and pushed through the challenges. We spent as much time as possible together and cherished every moment.

Sadly, we have reached a point where we are embracing the worst. I wish I could say my sister and I can cover the cost of our mother's funeral, but sadly we have exhausted all of our financial resources through this process and now we are in deep need of your help.

Gloria Consuelo Rivera Biography

My mother was born on August 15 in Medellin, Colombia. She was the youngest of twelve siblings. After graduating from high school, she went straight to work and worked hard as a typographer, doing so to provide for her mother. She was even able to buy a place of residence for her mother and a few of her siblings. At some point, she decided it was time for her to branch out, and so in 1984, she emigrated to the United States.

By chance, she was staying with a woman who happened to be a family friend of my father. They quickly fell in love, got married, and welcomed their first child in 1986 and their second in 1988. From those years on, I can attest that my mother, being a truly devout woman of faith, created a loving home and gave her heart and soul to her children. She showed her children what it truly meant to show love to one another through hard work and sacrifice. My mother would sometimes go hungry to make sure that my sister and I would never experience hunger. She would play with us all day and night to make sure we never felt abandoned. She was truly a woman who gave it her all.

At some point, God had a calling for her as she began volunteering her time, resources, and energy with many priests and deacons. Praying with those in need, making sure to never abandon anyone. Making sure to share the same love she showed to her children with others who needed extra support.

Our Goal

We plan on continuing my mother's wishes and in practice of her faith we want to have her buried in a Catholic Cemetery. We are trying our best to have her buried as close to us as possible which would be in Brooklyn. Any additional funds beyond that would be used to assist in paying off the massive medical debts of my mother.

Hola, me llamo Jason Rivera y soy hijo de Gloria Consuelo Rivera. Biografía de Gloria Consuelo Rave Rivera

Mi madre nació el 15 de agosto en Medellín, Colombia. Era la menor de doce hermanos. Tras graduarse de la secundaria, se puso a trabajar de inmediato y se dedicó a la tipografía para mantener a su madre. Incluso pudo comprarle una vivienda a su madre y apoyó constantemente a todos sus familiares. En un momento dado, decidió que era hora de emprender su nueva jornada y así en 1984, emigró a los Estados Unidos.

Por casualidad, cuando llega a los Estados Unidos, se aloja en la casa de una señora que era amiga de la familia de mi padre. Mis padres se enamoraron rápidamente, se casaron y dieron la bienvenida a su primera hija en 1986 y un hijo en 1988. Desde entonces, siendo una mujer de fe verdaderamente devota, creó un hogar lleno de amor y se entregó en cuerpo y alma a sus hijos. Les enseñó lo que significaba amarse mutuamente con trabajo duro y sacrificio. Mi madre siempre se sacrificó para asegurarse de que mi hermana y yo nunca pasáramos necesidades. Jugaba con nosotros día y noche para asegurarse de que nunca nos sintiéramos abandonados. Fue una mujer que lo dio todo.

En un momento de su vida, Dios la llamó y comenzó a ofrecer su tiempo, recursos y energía como voluntaria con muchos sacerdotes y diáconos. Oraba por los necesitados, asegurándose de nunca abandonar a nadie. Se aseguraba de compartir el mismo amor que mostraba a sus hijos con quienes necesitaban apoyo adicional.

Nuestro Objetivo

Como saben, mi madre dedico su vida a Dios. Nuestro gran deseo es darle su cristiana sepultura. como ella se lo merece. Queremos que sea enterrada en un cementerio católico. Si logramos superar nuestra meta, nos encantaría tenerla más cerca de nosotros, en un terreno católico en Brooklyn. Cualquier fondo adicional se utilizaría para ayudar a pagar las enormes deudas médicas de mi madre y otros gastos acumulados en esta lucha.
