As many of you know my cousin Gloria delivered baby Graecyn on May 22, 2025. During baby Graecyn’s arrival he had swallowed a bunch of amniotic fluid. He then got transferred to cooks in Fort Worth for evaluation, now that it has been about 5 days being in the NICU, He is stable & doing great!
As for Momma Glo, she also got transferred to the Fort Worth Hospital for further testing for numbness on face, hands, feet. She has had a lot of tests done as in spinal tap test, bloodwork, spinal MTI and etc. Once she got all her test results back, she tested positive for Guilllian-Barre Syndrome.
Guillain-Barre (gee-YAH-buh-RAY) syndrome is a condition in which the body's immune system attacks the nerves. It can cause weakness, numbness or paralysis. Weakness and tingling in the hands and feet are usually the first symptoms. These sensations can quickly spread and may lead to paralysis.
As of right now Glo will be taking 5 rounds of antibiotics, then she will be transferred to an in house rehab center in Fort Worth for Physical Therapy, which could take up to 6 weeks, 6 months, to a Year or more. This is where she will learn to get her mobility and strength back. As of right now she is not able to do much on her own, especially walking and moving around.
As of now, her husband Sadrion is staying with Baby Graecyn at Cooks Children’s hospital, and Rosemary (Gloria’s mom) is staying with Gloria across the street at the Fort Worth Hospital.
We don’t know the time frame of how long this journey is going to take, but Gloria and her family definitely have a village behind her and we are doing everything we can to help support all of them.
