Current climate targets are not on track to keep global warming below 2°C, let alone 1.5°C. At the same time, biodiversity loss continues despite global frameworks like the 30x30 biodiversity initiative and methane reduction pledges. A major gap remains between commitments and enforceable policy.
Global Students for Climate Justice wants to close that gap.
We are raising funds to organize an international summit designed specifically to produce legally binding agreements, not voluntary declarations. The aim is to bring together a targeted group of governments, NGOs, scientists, and legal experts to negotiate practical, enforceable outcomes in three areas:
- Methane reduction aligned with existing global pledges
- Biodiversity protection and land/ocean conservation
- Strengthened pathways to limit warming
The summit will prioritize:
- Drafting agreements that can be adopted into domestic law
- Clear compliance and accountability mechanisms
- Participation from actors with the authority to implement outcomes
This is not a large public conference or awareness campaign. It is a working process aimed at producing specific policy outcomes that bring nations closer to respecting their Paris Agreement commitments.
