Hi Friends,
Many of you may remember my friend Glendy from your support and prayers 7 years ago. Glendy and I met in a support group for caregivers of children with metabolic disorders. Glendy had left Peru, in which she was unable to have her daughter's special formula delivered, to come to the states. Her daughter has LCHAD like Stella. Glendy and her daughter Andrea were homeless in Florida when they left Peru. Glendy was determined to be close to the hospital in which Andrea was flown to for every metabolic crisis. With your help several years ago, you helped pay for her first few months rent and phone bills. After her first few years in Florida, she married and had her second daughter, Isabel (her first husband left after Andrea's LCHAD diagnosis). Unfortunately, after several years of marriage, domestic violence led to Glendy leaving the house, and homeless again living month to month. She fought the last two years, sometimes back to the relationship and out again, to gain stability and just 2 months ago gained custody of her daughters. She did this all while battling breast cancer earlier this year. Unfortunately, the breast cancer is back with possible mets to her bone and stomach. Glendy is in a hospital in Tampa right now. Her mother has come from Peru to help with the girls at Glendy's home, 6 hours from Tampa. Her mother is in her 80's and is the only local support she has after leaving her ex-husband. What I am asking for first is prayers. There are two things I know about Glendy, she is faithful to God and she is a mother who would do anything for her children. Her love for God and family is palpable from a distance.
Second I am asking for help with her rent. Right now her rent is $850, with an electric bill of $150. She has asked me to set up a GoFundMe, while she is hospitalized and cannot work to pay month to month. My first goal is to raise two months rent with electric. My second goal is to raise the cost of train tickets from Tampa to her house. My third goal is to raise money for food above what she gets through food stamps. Also, again, I would love to be able to help cover the cost of her cell phone bills. I do not know what it is like to live in poverty, and I do not know what it is like to battle breast cancer. I do not know what it is like to leave my home country and I do not know what it is like to have been in an abusive marriage. What I do know, is how hard I would fight for my children and to be with them. Please, prayers first, second, if you can donate to these goals, I would appreciate it. I know Glendy, and her grateful heart would be so thankful.
