Hello, my name is Glen Slover. Like many people, I had trials and troubled situations in my life that left trauma and scars physically, emotionally, spiritually, and mentally. I came to Christ as a Christian on October 20, 2010, while I was in Monmouth County Jail in Freehold, New Jersey. And God, in His infinite sense of humor, took this D student who barely passed English and had trouble with spelling, and by transforming my heart, made me a poet!

I started writing poetry 15 years ago, but in God‘s timing, because we are our worst critics, He put people in my life from my church and my friends that made me see my poetry was worth something, that I was worth something, and that I mattered. Through my poetry, I could therapeutically not tell a story of resurrection, but rather a story of confession and testimony! My poems are a positive outlook on stories of addiction, recovery, mental instability, heartbreak, love, friendship, family, and most of all, the praise, worship, and glory of God!

My poetry is to let people know you’re not alone in your struggles. Even if you’re a Christian, people think we have this charmed, beautiful life, and that’s what it means to be a Christian, but Christians still go through life and its struggles and trials. We still suffer loss and grief, heartache, and heartbreak, and some deal with and fight the sinful affliction of addiction, depression, and mental instability. My poems might be a shelter in the storm to let you know you’re not alone, to let you know there’s an answer. At least there was for me in the salvation of Jesus Christ! For He was the one that not only transformed my heart but opened it up to feel again, to have empathy and sympathy, and the ability to love humanity by loving myself first.

So through the encouragement of members of my church and friends, I submitted 10 poems to Trilogy Publishing, TBN, who saw that there was a love and compassion there that may reach others to let them know there is an answer through the love of Christ, but also that they’re not alone in this classroom we call life. Now they gave me a contract which I signed and gave a deposit, and now I’m looking to raise the rest of the money because I am a simple man on disability on SSI trying to publish a book of poetry that may help even one person say, "I’m not alone. That poem I read today kept me from using. That poem I read today kept me from committing suicide. That poem I read today gave me the ability to take the next breath and the next step." Or it opened up the door for the poem they read to be a conduit of God‘s love that led them to His glory.

So I’m asking for donations to help not only with a dream of putting my poems out there, but with what I believe because I know at times the words came to me from the Holy Spirit. For it was God who woke my heart up creatively, emotionally, spiritually, and enthusiastically with a curiosity of the wonders of humanity, and to put forth a positive, loving message! So yes, I’m asking for donations not so I can put a book out there for fame or wealth, but to put a positive message out there that may help even one person. For I believe what truly matters is we let people know they’re not alone, that they’re loved, and that they matter. And there is a loving God who truly loves them!!!
