Support Gladys in Her Battle Against Cancer

Donation protected
Hello,

We are reaching out to ask you to consider making a difference in both the care of our beautiful friend and also to help alleviate some of the stress that mounting medical bills are causing. As we all know, cancer not only takes a toll on one's physical well-being but also brings along significant financial burdens that bring significant stress. A few of us have come together to create this GoFundMe campaign to rally support and provide Gladys with the necessary resources to fight this battle. Let’s lift her up together!

After years of back and forth with doctors and medical professionals Gladys was finally diagnosed with endometrial cancer along with two different types of breast cancer, one in each breast.

Her treatment began with a hysterectomy on August 3rd, and her recovery has already had some complications as she had an allergic reaction to the anesthesia and was accidentally given too many pain meds by hospital staff. Fluid began building in her lungs and she was kept in the hospital for multiple days before being allowed to go home. She is currently resting at her daughter Lili’s home and trying to recover from this first surgery but has a long way to go.

Next, when she has sufficiently healed, Gladys will begin six weeks of chemotherapy. After this first round of chemo has been completed, she will go back into surgery for a double mastectomy. Then more waiting as she heals from this second surgery. Then more chemotherapy and radiation will follow, along with possible other treatments. As you can imagine all of this is going to take the rest of this year, and well into 2024. These treatments, while essential, come at a significant cost, as well as time when Gladys will be unable to work to support herself. As a result, she is facing an overwhelming financial burden, and it is distracting her from focusing solely on her recovery.

Accepting help is hard for her because Gladys is the person that would usually be the one making the GoFundMe, giving her time and money to a friend in need. Her kindness and love for all beings are pretty legendary. Every adult, child, or furry friend in front of her can expect the biggest hugs and don't even tell her you like anything she has or it will be going home with you. She moved to Sacramento in 2016 with her twin daughters after years of working as a hairstylist, make-up artist, and photographer in New York, Atlanta, and San Francisco. Once here she was forced to give up her career as a hairstylist due to back injuries and began working with children and animals. She has been the person with the biggest heart taking care of all of us, and now it is our turn.

We have set a fundraising goal of $50,000 to help alleviate the financial strain on Gladys and her daughters. This amount will cover medical bills, prescription medications, transportation costs, and any other unforeseen expenses that may arise during her treatment journey. By reaching this goal, we hope that she can focus on her health and well-being without the added stress of financial worries. Please consider making Gladys your act of random kindness today to help her heal, but to also help her spirit.

How You Can Help:

1. Donate: Any amount, no matter how small, will make a significant impact on Gladys's journey. Your contribution will go directly towards her medical expenses and provide her with the necessary resources to fight cancer.

2. Share: Spread the word about our campaign by sharing it on social media platforms, email, or word of mouth. The more people who know about Gladys and her fight, the greater the chance of reaching our goal.

3. Offer Support: Beyond financial contributions, your emotional support and well-wishes would mean the world to Gladys. Leave a heartfelt message on this GoFundMe page or reach out personally to let her know you are there for her.

Thank you for taking the time to read her story and considering a contribution. Every donation, share, and act of kindness brings us one step closer to our goal. Help us show Gladys that she is not alone in this fight.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Team Gladys
