My name is Jordana Correia, and I am raising funds to cover emergency vet bills for our dog Gizmo. Our beloved Gizmo is more than a family member; he is my certified Emotional Support Animal (ESA) helping me manage PTSD and the best friend of my 4-year-old son. Our sweet Gizmo survived a terrifying 24-hour emergency stay at Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in San Ramon, CA, costing me $4,300 upfront. Gizmo is not just a dog; he is the constant companion of my four-year-old son who has been attached to him since he was born. Now facing lifelong medication for an enlarged heart (DCM) and degenerative spine, we are asking for help to cover the initial debt and secure the first year of his critical ongoing medications, totaling $5,177. We need him healthy, both for his sake and for ours.
Gizmo's Diagnosis and Ongoing Need
The cost of a miracle: $4,300 Paid
On December 8, 2025, a Monday around 7:40 am, our sweet Gizmo was rushed to the emergency ICU for 24 hours at the Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in San Ramon, CA. I immediately paid the $4,300 bill to save his life, which required me to drain my savings. We are so grateful he survived, but the financial debt is immense.
A Lifeline for Our Family
Gizmo's well-being is essential to our family stability. He is the loyal companion of my four-year-old son who has been attached to him since birth. More profoundly, Gizmo serves as my Emotional Support Animal (ESA). His presence is critical to helping me manage my daily struggles with PTSD. Losing him, or seeing him in pain, is devastating, and his continued health is vital for my own mental well-being and stability.
The Lifelong Commitment: Two Critical Battles
The VEG team's diagnostic workup revealed critical diagnoses that require permanent, daily care:
1. Enlarged Heart (Cardiomyopathy): Requiring heart medications like Vetmedin ($51.29 monthly) and Pimobendan ($28 every 3 months).
2. Degenerative Spine: Requiring chronic pain management with Gabapentin ($12.49 monthly).
The total annual cost just for his medicine is approximately $877.00.
How Your Donations Will Be Used
Our final goal of $5,177 is essential for Gizmo's survival, comfort, and our family well-being. Funds will be used as follows:
$4,300.00 To replenish the funds we had to immediately withdraw to cover his emergency ICU stay at VEG San Ramon.
$877.00 To cover the full calculated cost of Gizmo's essential heart and pain medications for the first year.
I will provide photographic evidence of the $4,300 VEG vet bill and all medication receipts. Every dollar is a direct investment in keeping our family whole and my essential support system healthy.
Gizmo is literally a lifesaver for our family. I fought to save him once, and now we are asking for your help to ensure we can sustain his lifesaving treatment indefinitely. Please donate what you can, or share this story widely. Thank you for helping my ESA and my son's best friend's health.
