Since 2018, Giving Back to The Gambia Charity Foundation Inc has been committed to supporting vulnerable families across The Gambia.

For many households, Ramadan is not only a month of fasting — it is a month of anxiety.

Some parents worry:

Will we have rice for iftar?

Will we even have a single date to break our fast?

How will we feed our children tonight?

While many of us prepare full iftar tables, others break their fast with water alone — if they have anything at all.

This Ramadan, we are launching a dedicated campaign to provide food packages to verified needy families in The Gambia.

Our goal is simple:

No family should fear fasting because they have nothing to eat.

Why This Matters in Islam

Allah says:

“And they give food, in spite of love for it, to the needy…”

(Surah Al-Insan 76:8)

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Whoever feeds a fasting person will have a reward like his, without decreasing the reward of the fasting person in the slightest.”

(Tirmidhi)

He ﷺ also lived simply and remained deeply connected to the poor. He reminded us that caring for the vulnerable and feeding others is a path to closeness to Allah.

Ramadan is not only about hunger — it is about compassion.

When you feed a family, you remove their worry.

When you ease their fear, you earn reward.

When you give for the sake of Allah, He multiplies it.
