We are hoping to raise money to contribute toward medical costs for Giselle (7 years old) who has been battling a brain tumor for most of her life. Please see more on her journey below. Giselle was on vacation with her family in Massachusetts to celebrate the Fourth of July when she became unresponsive and needed to be hospitalized at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. They have done all they can for her there so she is being transported via medical flight to Florida to seek treatment from her care team. As you can imagine the medical flight has put a large financial burden on the family. The flight and ambulance alone are over $28,000. We have faith in Giselles doctors and surgeons in Florida that she will be getting the best possible care.
A brief history of Giselles condition and treatment:
Giselle was diagnosed with a brain tumor (pilocytic astrocytoma low grade unresectable glioma) in 2018 at two years old. She underwent 60 weeks of chemotherapy in Fort Myers. In 2020 she had surgery at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital to remove what they could of the tumor and cyst. In 2021 she had another emergency surgery to put in a shunt to relieve pressure in her brain. After that she did 6 weeks of intensive daily proton radiation treatment in Orlando.
In 2023 she began treatment with the University of Florida participating in a study for a drug that has now become FDA approved. Throughout all of these surgery’s and treatments Giselle has been on medications to combat her seizures.
Giselle is a ray of sunshine to all that know her; despite her medical battle she is a happy-go-lucky kid who brightens everyone’s lives. She is attending Sanibel Elementary school and will be entering the second grade in the fall. Giselle loves to spend time with her family in the pool and singing/dancing to live music performances. She’s known to ask to pet any dog in sight and will strike up a conversation with anyone she meets. We ask that you consider contributing in whatever way possible and appreciate your consideration.
