Support Giselle’s Journey to Financial Stability

Hello all!

My name is Giselle Candelaria and I am a born and raised Milwaukee citizen. I am currently seeking assistance from my community in hopes of gaining some ease with bills I’ve accumulated from a car crash last year.

Back in November 2024, a week before my 22nd birthday, I was involved in a car accident near the lakefront. On a rainy day as I drove down Lake Drive, a runner crossed the street unexpectedly, causing the car in front of me to brake suddenly. I immediately hit my brakes as well, but due to the rain and having an older vehicle, my brakes could not stop in time. My car unfortunately slid into the back of the car in front of me, resulting in a crash. My car ended up totaled, and the person's car in front was mildly damaged due to the size of their truck.

At the time, I was working multiple jobs to get by financially. In turn, I was driving without insurance because I couldn’t afford it. I was later found guilty of the damages to their car because it was a rear-ended crash, and because I didn’t have insurance at the time, the bills were astronomical. As of recently, I was alerted I am expected to pay $3,500 in damages towards the other car. Not only have I recently started paying that off, but I also had to purchase a new car through a loan to ensure I can still work to pay these bills. I’ve also started my car insurance again, which grew much more expensive after the crash.

I have been working two jobs throughout the course of the past few months to get by comfortably. However, I was just recently let go of my second job, serving. The job I currently hold is only part time. I’m in a vulnerable state and really need the help of my community at this time. My family is unable to help support me, and I am starting to become worried for my financial being. Anything would help me during this time to pay off this debt.
