Dear Friends and Family,
I hope you are staying safe and doing well!
February 3rd was National Girls & Women in Sports Day! I believe it is more important than ever to celebrate and inspire girls in sports and promote physical and mental health, especially in these challenging times.
I have joined an organization called Girl Up and started the Westchester County chapter as Club Leader, which promotes mental wellness, fitness, and sports for young girls in our communities.
At this time, I am partnering and supporting a nonprofit organization called Girls on the Run and actively raising funds to purchase running shoes and supporting running programs for young girls in underprivileged communities in Westchester. Running is a great sport that is accessible and COVID-19 safe. However, due to the other needs in underprivileged communities, fitness and sports seem to have been deprioritized.
Also, in support of this initiative, I am also training for the NYC Half Marathon in March, hoping to share my experiences with young girls who are training for the upcoming Girls on the Run 5K.
My goal is to raise funds to purchase 100+ pairs of running shoes / approx. $3,000 - $5,000+ for young girls (age 11 - 14). Each new pair of running shoes should cost approx. $30 - $50, however any donation amount would be appreciated! No donation amount is too small.
If you would be so kind to support this special initiative, I would be grateful for your donation by Wednesday, March 31, 2021.
(Sorry! We could not set-up a tax-deductible donation to purchase running shoes. Thanks for your understanding!)
Thank you so much for your generosity and your support!
Kaitlyn Lee
