I'm working full-time and doing everything I can, but my landlord is withholding my mail, threatening eviction, and trying to make me pay the full utility bill alone. I need support while I fight back legally and avoid losing the roof over my head.
My name is Giovanni and I’ve reached a breaking point. I’m working full-time, doing everything I can to stay on my feet, but my landlord has been retaliating against me for standing up for my rights.
I rent a single room for $1,200/month in a shared house. Even though there are four people in the home, I’m being forced to cover the entire electric bill by myself. When I asked for a fair split, I was met with threats and pressure.
It didn’t stop there.
My landlord withheld my mail, including my SNAP/EBT card, auto insurance legal documents, and official letters from Florida’s Department of Children and Families, CareerSource, and Medicaid. Some of that mail was over a month old and time-sensitive. I may have lost legal rights or access to benefits because of this — and I now fear being evicted for simply asking to be treated fairly.
I’m working, I’m not asking for charity. I’m asking for help getting through this retaliation, and support in covering:
Emergency relocation if eviction happens
Legal aid for tenant abuse and mail tampering
Basic needs if I lose access to benefits again
If you’ve ever had everything feel like it’s crashing down at once while you’re doing your best, then you know why I’m here asking. I hate asking. But I need help now more than ever. Even sharing this helps. Thank you for reading and for standing with me.
