Support Ginger’s Journey to Healing and Independence

Our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend Ginger has been through a life changing medical crisis. In December, she suffered a hemorrhagic stroke that required emergency surgery and a prolonged hospitalization at UW Hospital, including several weeks in the ICU.

Since then, Ginger has shown incredible strength and determination. After leaving the ICU, she spent time in UW Acute Rehab and is now continuing her recovery at Oak Park Place, a skilled nursing facility, where she is working tirelessly to heal physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Her husband, Tim, has been faithfully updating loved ones through CaringBridge, and many have asked:

“How can we help?”

The reality is that Ginger’s family is now facing significant and unexpected financial challenges as they prepare for her eventual return home.

Why We’re Asking for Help

Ginger and Tim live in a tri level home with no bathroom on the main living floor, creating major accessibility issues. To safely bring her home, the family must complete essential renovations and prepare for equipment and care needs that insurance will not fully cover.

Home Accessibility Needs

• Conversion of a step in tub to a roll in/walk in shower

(plumbing, electrical, and contractor work already underway)

• Possible wheelchair lift installation

(depending on Ginger’s stair climbing ability at discharge)

• Additional safety modifications

(handrails, grab bars, non slip flooring, doorway widening, and more)

Additional Costs

• Medical equipment not fully covered by insurance

• Out of pocket rehab or therapy needs

• Transportation or adaptive devices Ginger may need as she works toward independence

These changes are not optional—they are essential to bring Ginger home safely and give her the best chance at continuing her recovery in a supportive environment.
