Help Support Ginger’s Fight❤️
About Ginger
Let me tell you about my friend, Ginger. She has been a wonderful, caring friend, a tireless advocate, and a true role model for everyone who knows her. She simply does not know the meaning of the word quit.
A Journey Filled With Challenges
Ginger’s medical struggles began in 2014 with a diagnosis of stage 3 thyroid cancer. Just one year later, she required three coronary artery stents. Hoping for a fresh start, she and her family moved back to her hometown — but instead faced severe challenges. Both Ginger and her son developed life-threatening allergies that triggered anaphylaxis. The only available apartment was a third-floor walk-up, and shortly after moving in, Ginger’s health struggles deepened. She began experiencing countless strange and debilitating symptoms, and saw nearly every type of specialist imaginable. Then came heartbreak: she lost her beloved dog and best friend, Tucker, far too soon to an enlarged heart. And almost two years later they lost their other chihuahua Tinkerbell it seems as if they can not catch a break at all .
New Diagnoses, New Battles
In April 2020, Ginger was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) with a rare Philadelphia chromosome (p190). Treatment has been extremely difficult. Yet, even while battling cancer herself, Ginger has worked to help other patients by pushing for better medications, stronger treatments, and improved support programs. That same year, her family also began dealing with a severe rodent infestation in their apartment. For five years, this issue has persisted, but because of health and financial limitations, they have been unable to move. In December 2020, Ginger suffered a massive heart attack shortly after another stent procedure. Complications led to a pseudoaneurysm, and she has since battled:
- Cardiomyopathy
- Atrial fibrillation
- Heart failure
- Diabetes
- PNH (another rare disease)
- Severe balance issues, repeated falls, and memory loss and too many other issues to list .
️ The Latest Struggle: Laryngeal Cancer
This year, Ginger began coughing up blood, losing her breath, and becoming hoarse. After countless tests, she was diagnosed with laryngeal cancer. She has to endure - A partial laryngectomy
- Radiation & chemotherapy
- Ongoing vocal therapy in hopes of regaining even part of her voice Sadly, this has also taken away her ability to earn a living.
How You Can Help
Through all of this, Ginger has shown extraordinary courage and resilience. She continues to fight, to advocate, and to hold on for her family — but no one can do this alone. Our goal is to raise 30
Thousand dollars to
Help her and her family get through everything in one piece the funds are going to be used to get her moved and to help cover out of pocket meds that insurance doesn’t cover for her it will also help for her husband to be able to take her to the staggering amounts of doctors visits and to be home more to help her out he will of course continue working but it will help them to stay afloat after moving We are asking for your support: Donate whatever you can — every amount makes a difference Share Ginger’s story with friends, family, and your community Pray for Ginger’s healing and strength Your kindness and generosity will help lighten the enormous burdens she and her family are carrying. From the bottom of our hearts — thank you. We will update daily and Ginger has asked to be able to thank each and every donor personally.

Here is a poem that I wrote about my health journey ❤️
Losing Myself by Ginger Ortiz

Locked in boxed in losing my
Mind , the crazier I feel the
More I get left behind, feel trapped inside my
Own mind and broken body , I definitely don’t feel like a hottie . I feel blocked and locked into specific spaces and of my
Former self there are no traces . Losing the battle I’ve fought so hard , I feel like there for me left is no regard . I’ve been there for many and tried to help but now in my battle I feel alone and no one
Comes to my rescue to no avail. I feel restless and scared but I don’t feel people ever really cared . Ghosted and toasted but here i remain while I battle my illnesses making me go insane . Living with daily challenges and pain , you
Find that others pull further away yet they want you to hear their every team of life problems, petty as they may be they just are not here for me in my true hour in need. Many proclaim their loyalty and love yet they fly
Away like a dove because you’ve become too much of a bug or nuisance. In the end it’s better that way because you no longer have any loyalties nor oppressiveness and can be your own person no matter how hard it may be . You can do what’s best for you without your sanity becoming undue . As I
Sit in the dark watching tv shows over and over I realize that my old self my old life is over
For all intents and purposes. I bury my pain and my sadness every day bury it oh so deep but I see my
Life changing in a
Bleep of a moment . The old me , the healthy
Me , the creative and energetic me is gone , lost in the abyss never to return so i leave you with this , love who
You are appreciate what you have, nurture yourself and your loved ones because once things are different they will
Never return and you will be left alone feeling the burn.
funds will be used for non covered medicine from insurance as well as medical procedure copays and living and moving expenses
