"It's cancer, Gina. Two cancers, actually," her doctor said. "I'm very sorry."

Twin cancers, thyroid and breast—with distinct, complex treatments lasting a year if they went well—diseases discovered during an annual check-up. That was December's bad news. ≈•> "She was neglecting herself," her mom told me. Gina is 46, mom of two, married to Joe. "She was too worried about Larry." Now that's Gina's dad. "She loved him so much." He died last summer at age 82, after a serious decline. ≈•> And so 2026 begins for a scared family of four: mom's twin cancer diagnoses, "all hands on deck." It will be an emotional, death-defying roller coaster for the next 12 months, with no guarantees. Alongside her on this medical journey is good husband Joe (soulmate!) and their two likeable kids: Christian and Megan, 12 and 18.

Here's the thing. Here's why I hope you'll decide to help Gina's family. Their financial situation is falling apart. They share a small house in Florida: a nurturing, caring, hard-working, church-going family of manageable but modest means. Joe is Gina's primary caregiver. He's also the chief breadwinner. There's the problem.

Joe worked hourly at Walmart. He's been a valued employee for 19 years, and the benefits have been a godsend for the family. But his recent absences while caring for Gina exceeded the company's allowance. He was just let go at the end of February. This means a sudden, steep loss of income for their household. Joe's looking for a more flexible employer.

Team Gina needs YOU!

If you've known anyone with cancer, you know what a daily grind treatment is: all kinds of specialists, different injections, endless blood tests, the whole family running around trying to keep it together, with constant fatigue and uncertainty.

This campaign aims to remove the biggest dark cloud hanging over Gina's year-long recovery. Her biggest worry is NOT her two cancers; the prognosis for the diseases is promising enough. And Gina has always had complete faith and trust in God.

The worry that really keeps her up nights, adding anxiety and depression, is—no surprise to anyone—money. How will the bills get paid? What's happening with the kids' futures? Megan wants a career, which means school tuition. Christian enters 8th grade, his next big step before high school.

I poked my nose in (I'm an old friend of Gina's mom). The family needs about $80K to be ultra-safe for a year (that's the typical household income now in their home state).

At a minimum, $50K will keep Gina's family worry-free about the basics. They'll have food, electricity, a roof over their heads...assuming nothing unforeseen arises (pray for a mild 2026 hurricane season). Let's set that as a goal.

Thank you for your heart.
