Growing up, my mom was always the pillar of strength and positivity in my life.
When I was in high school, my mom was first diagnosed with breast cancer. She was so confident about getting through it with ease, that she almost didn't even tell me. Ultimately, she did, and each week I would drive her to radiation after I was done with class. I wouldn't say it was an easy time but she kept on running her own bookkeeping business and supporting our family with a smile on her face.
Fast forward to August 2019. My mom found out the cancer had returned. Unlike the first time, this time was much more intense. Her treatment plan? Undergo surgery, a double mastectomy, 6 months of chemo, weekly shots, and a year of subsequent treatment once the chemo is completed. She is currently over half way through her chemo.
Now, the thing about my mom is that she loves what she does and won't even let cancer keep her down. However, battling chemo doesn't exactly leave one with a ton of energy to work. The other downside to this is that, for her, the hours she works directly correlate to the income she makes. This is especially hard since she is the only one working (aside from myself) in our immediate family.
That's where this Gofundme comes in. This journey is not a cheap one. A year of chemotherapy, drugs, surgeries, shots, appointments, etc. add up quickly.
Anything that you are able to contribute would mean the world to us and would allow her to focus on healing and recovering, rather than working 12 hour days, 6-7 days a week to pay rent, her medical bills and other living expenses. As you can see in the video, she is staying positive and strong, but with your generosity she will be able to put this behind her and focus on the future. We appreciate your healing thoughts and donations of any size.
Thank you for all of your support,
Marissa
