Support Gina in Her Time of Grief

Hello, my name is Patricya Habib, and I am reaching out to you with a heavy heart. I am a close friend of Gina, who is currently facing an unimaginable tragedy. I have known Gina through her son, Kevin Ross, who was my son Tarik’s best friend. Kevin was like family to us, spending countless hours at our home after school, on special days, and during normal days.

My dear friend, Gina, is facing unimaginable grief and severe financial hardship. Tragically, she lost both of her beloved sons in separate accidents, just three years apart.

In November of 2023, Gina’s youngest son, Kevin Ross, was riding back home after enjoying some time with his friends at the skate park. Almost close to home, he was unable to make it because he was hit by a car while crossing the street. This accident left Kevin in the SICU (surgical intensive care unit) at UC Davis for two weeks with numerous injuries and irreversible brain damage. Sadly, Kevin passed away on December 1.

As Gina navigates through this profound grief, she is struggling to process her feelings. We know it takes a village to support someone through such devastating times. In this moment, I am reaching out to our community to help a mother who has lost her beloved children. Struggling to pay bills is challenging for any parent in normal circumstances, but it is even harder for a single parent dealing with immense grief.

We are raising funds to help Gina cover Kevin’s Celebration of Life, any unpaid medical bills from Kevin’s hospitalization in the SICU, and to support her during this incredibly difficult time.
