It is with the heaviest of hearts we share with you the news that Tim Gillaspie, a member of our community, was killed in a tragic incident. Tim had told Katrina and his sons that if there was ever any danger he would be there on the front line protecting them. Little did he know that danger would take his life too soon and his words would come to fruition. He kept his word and went out a Hero.
Tim was a bright color in our community fabric. He was a devoted husband, caring father to his two boys Conner (14) and Shane (11), and an active volunteer with youth sports. He always showed up and gave his time enthusiastically for anything that involved his kids. He not only managed and coached with RVLL, but also with CYO basketball, and PAL Bears Football. He was the sole provider for his family, spending the last 12 years working for PG&E. He was what so many of us should strive to be - a gentle, caring family man, a hard worker, and a vital community member.
His wife, Katrina, is also an active loving mother, a consummate volunteer and community member. She is a stay-at-home mom who has volunteered for years in her boys' classrooms as well as taken on many leadership roles in the school’s Parents Club. She is an active member on the District Education Foundation, and always finds ways to help out organizations that her kids are involved with. She has put in countless hours to RVLL since her first son started playing in the league. She consistently comes through for everyone around her.
Tim was passionate about coaching and managing his boys’ teams from the beginning. He did this while working 40+ hours a week as a PG&E Lineman. He was committed and passionate about being present in their lives. A well respected man in the RVLL family.
His friend says He was an incredible man and leader. If you were his friend you were his family. His family gave with no expectations. We lost one of the great ones and this community will not be the same without him.
We are a strong community and ask that we come together to help support this family.
