Donation protected
The Gihon Women Empowerment Centre is located in Kitengela, a slum outside Nairobi, Kenya. Gihon empowers women in-need with mentoring, training and providing professional skills free of charge. By access to education & community we give women an audible voice and the confidence to transform their lives.
The Gihon Women’s Centre currently need funds for rent, to repair the floors, a blowdrying machine, an electric kettle, salon chairs, shaving machine, towels, uv machine, combs, brushes, aprons, hair dressing products, fabric, electricity, water, and the trainers salary.
The budget total is 650,000 Kenyan shillings or $6,500 US dollars.
Our program operates during weekdays from 10am to 3pm. This allows the women to get their kids ready for school in the morning, and gives them time to cook, clean & help with homework in the evenings. We also have a childcare center next door, allowing the women to bring their children that are not yet in school to stay in a safe place while they concentrate on their lessons.
Our program runs for one year, for a total of 4 semesters. Our classes include counseling, jewelery making, tailoring, nails and hairdressing, women's rights, health classes, CV/resume writing, job training and parenting.
