I'm trying to raise enough money to adopt a horse. Horses were my first love. It's a love I shared with my 5-year-old granddaughter by getting her riding lessons that year for Christmas. The next year, her dad got her her very own horse, which she named Carrots. Carrots was an older horse, but perfect for Charlee. In early 2023, Carrots had to be put down due to health issues. In May 2023, I lost my precious Charlee unexpectedly. She was my only grandchild, and my heart has been shattered since that horrible day. I had some mental health issues after her passing. I have been in therapy for the past two and a half years. It has helped, but my heart kept telling me that I needed to get back in the saddle myself for some VERY needed therapy. That's when my search began to find the perfect horse for me. I visited a rescue ranch recently, and there was this one horse named Zook that was determined to get my attention, and he did. It was such a connection between us, but he definitely picked me to be his person, and I fell in love. The only thing was Zook wasn't available for adoption. I left there that day and couldn't shake the thought of him.

I waited several weeks to hear about 2 other horses that I was interested in, but Mike, my tour guide that day, saw that connection and asked the Board of Directors to allow me to adopt Zook, and they unanimously voted YES!!

I truly feel that the relationship I can have with this guy is going to truly help heal this Gigi's broken heart and help me feel closer to my Charlee doing what we both loved so much.
