Hi everyone,
My name is Ashlee, and I’m fundraising for my sweet dog, Gigi , who is facing a serious and mysterious liver condition.
On September 23, I took Gigi in for her routine annual checkup. During the visit, the vet mentioned that bloodwork wasn’t typically required but could be added for an extra fee. I decided to go ahead with it — because when it comes to her health, I’d rather know than not know.
That decision may have saved her life.
When her results came back, her ALT and ALP liver enzymes were elevated, indicating a potential issue with her liver or gallbladder. The vet recommended an ultrasound for a closer look.
During the ultrasound, we were told Gigi’s liver looked “mottled” instead of having a uniform pattern, which made it difficult to identify what was going on. Thankfully, her gallbladder appeared normal — but the liver changes were concerning enough that we were referred to a veterinary internal medicine specialist for further evaluation.
At the specialist visit, Gigi underwent another, more detailed ultrasound. Unfortunately, the results left even the doctor puzzled. The specialist returned teary-eyed, saying they had seen many unusual cases before, but this one was especially “weird and abnormal.”
At this point, they recommend that Gigi undergo a surgical liver biopsy to help determine what’s happening and how to treat it before it gets worse. Without a diagnosis, there’s no way to know if it’s something treatable — or something that could progress quickly.
In just two weeks, we’ve already spent around $1,010 on exams, bloodwork, and ultrasounds.
The estimated cost for the surgical biopsy is up to $4,000, with an additional $200 consultation fee before the procedure can be scheduled.
As much as I wish I could handle this on my own, this unexpected and urgent situation has made it hard to cover everything at once. Every little bit — whether it’s $5 or $50 — helps bring Gigi one step closer to the care she needs.
Gigi isn’t just a pet — she’s my emotional support animal and my little shadow. When I moved to Georgia, I went through a difficult time with my mental health. Gigi was the reason I got up each day, the one who helped me keep a routine, and who gave me comfort when I needed it most.
She’s been my anchor through hard days and my reminder to find joy in small moments. She deserves the chance to live a long, healthy, happy life — just as she’s helped me live mine more fully.
Your support means more than words can express. Whether you donate, share this campaign, or send prayers and positive thoughts, I am deeply grateful for your kindness and compassion.
Thank you for helping Gigi get the care she deserves.
With love and gratitude,
Ashlee & Gigi
