Support Gigi's Lung Transplant Journey!

Donation protected
If you know my mom you know she is one of the most selfless, kind, giving woman you'll ever meet. She would give someone the shirt off her back and the last penny in her pocket. She's been battling Alpha-1 Antitrypsin for close to 11 years and it did significant irreversible damage to her lungs which caused her to be on 24/7 oxygen. She went down to Penn Med in Philadelphia to start the process of getting on the transplant list. Right before Christmas she received a call that they had donor lungs for her and we all rushed down to be by her side but unfortunately the lungs were not viable and she was sent home. Even though she was devastated she never gave up and knew her time would come.  And it did. My mom was called on May 8th (which also happens to be her birthday!) to Penn Med because they had donor lungs for her. And Thank God they were a perfect match. Her surgery went smoothly and her nurse said she is doing great. Which is no surprise to me because she's the strongest woman I know! But, what comes with surgery and being 3 hours away from home and her family is expenses. While she is in the hospital my sister will be traveling down to see her daily to visit as my step-dad needs to work to keep the bills paid & keep their health insurance (Only one person is allowed to visit while she's in the hospital because of COVID19). After she is discharged from the hospital she will need to stay in transplant housing for 4 months because she needs to be within an hour of the hospital incase any complications arise and the housing cost is not covered by insurance. Also, my family and I will need to take turns driving back and forth to help her out as she needs 24/7 care while she recovers when she is released from the hospital. She will also be responsible for whatever medical expenses aren't covered by her insurance. These donations will help pay for gas, housing, and the accruing medical expenses. My mom is not one to ask for help, she's the one always helping others. So any donations would be greatly appreciated.

If you are unable to donate and would like to send a get well card, flowers, etc. we will make that information available as soon as we can.

Thank you all so much for the outpouring love and prayers. Keep them coming!
