Hello my name is Christa and my nephew and his family are in need. My sister doesn't like to ask for help so I am asking for help for them. I know that we can help them.

Gideon is an incredible 6-year-old boy who has already faced more than anyone I know.

Gideon is currently battling Thyroid Cancer that has spread to his lymph nodes and lungs. This is after he has already conquered 4 open heart surgeries with difficult recoveries- he’s overcome cardiac arrest, ECMO, pulmonary reconstruction, nearly a year of combined time in the hospital and that’s just scratching the surface.

Yet looking at him he’s silly and joyful and full of life.

Now is the time to be the community the Scheutzow Family needs. Let’s rally around them to help cover out of pocket costs, travel, and food.

Gideon has 5 amazing sisters. His 3 older sisters are no stranger to hospitalizations and now his younger sisters will be initiated into the club. They’ve dealt with heaviness most of us can’t fathom and at such young ages.

2 weeks ago, Michelle and Jordan realized Gideon’s oxygen was lower than his normal. Within a few days they decided it was time to head to the emergency room fearing his heart was yet again struggling. He is just 18 months past his last heart surgery. He had a chest CT moved up and his entire team expected him to be struggling from his heart. The results came back and shocked everyone to see masses throughout his chest, thyroid, and lymph nodes. Adding oncology was not on anyone’s radar. It is heartbreaking and unexpected.

Coming up quickly Gideon will have a biopsy to confirm type. Next, he will have an invasive surgery to remove his whole thyroid and all lymph nodes in his neck. Once he recovers from this, he will receive a radioactive iodine treatment in hopes it will kill any remaining cancer especially in his lungs. Pediatric thyroid cancer is incredibly rare and currently he is the youngest person to ever have it-he needs all the prayers he can get!

Gideon is currently requiring around the clock oxygen due to the cancer spreading in his lungs. All he wants is to run around like the sweet kid he is!
