Support Giannina’s cancer treatment
Donation protected
Hi as many of you know, Giannina was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in February. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy. This will be complete in June, after which she will be on maintenance drugs every three weeks for the rest of her life alongside a medical menopause.
This will inevitably take a toll on Giannina’s body and she would like to investigate alternative integrated treatments for her cancer and subsequent recovery. All of which exists outside of the remit of the NHS. She has found a private naturopath and a practitioner at The Cancer Options centre and would like to explore their approach.
One of the main hurdles to Giannina’s prolonged control of the cancer is drug resistance. In most cases her cancer type eventually becomes resistant to the medication on offer. The Cancer Options centre looks at metabolic approaches which can halt this drug resistance and maintain remission in patients in these instances.
‘Taking a metabolic, integrative approach enables us to look at positive strategies at every stage of dealing with cancer. From prevention through to post treatment, applying a broader approach of metabolic theories which is helping our clients deal with cancer in a more positive manner. From staying well through treatments to taking charge of their recoveries and working in a specific, research-based methodology, which is informed by knowledge of both themselves and their cancer.
With metabolic flexibility we can apply a wider approach which blocks pathways that cancer may go down if becoming resistant to treatment and people are seeing their treatment working better for longer and, post treatment, they are increasing their chances of staying in remission. We can also look at how treatment has damaged their immune system and how well it is repairing and with the use of functional testing we can even go as far as looking at what oncogenes are active and maybe influencing the progress of cancer.’
All of these diagnostic tests, along with the ongoing costs of supplements and non funded therapies are expensive. Giannina is currently not working through treatment so with reluctance we are asking for your help with these ongoing costs.
The loving support of all of her family and friends has been overwhelming. We are eternally grateful for everything everyone has done for us over the last few months.
We would like to add that any remaining money that isn’t used towards her treatment will be donated to a cancer research charity.
With love and gratitude
