Hello! My name is Gianna Capparelli, though some may know me as "DJ Girasole". I'm 34 years old, and I was recently diagnosed with Stage 2 Triple Negative Breast Cancer.

Those that know me will agree that I've always embodied the spirit of a sunflower: standing confident with a huge smile, and always facing toward the light. I am an active, free-spirited, otherwise healthy woman thats deeply passionate about the Chicago music community. For the past four years, I’ve been working as a professional DJ, spreading joy and connection through music. Continuing to share my gifts by spreading love through music with the world is more than a just a career — it’s my calling.

In May 2025, I’ll begin aggressive treatment under the care of my team at Northwestern. My plan includes at least six months of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, followed by a full mastectomy, radiation, and long-term aftercare. While I was fortunate to detect the cancer relatively early, it has unfortunately spread to my lymph nodes — which is why my treatment needs to be so intensive.

I’m turning to my community for support. The road ahead will bring not only physical and emotional challenges but also significant financial burdens as well. Your help will go directly toward the cost of my treatments, surgeries, recovery, and ongoing care — all of which will impact my life for years to come.
