Hello! My name is Gianna Capparelli, though some may know me as "DJ Girasole". I'm 35 years old, and I am battling Stage 4 Triple Negative Breast Cancer.

Those that know me will agree that I've always embodied the spirit of a sunflower: standing confident with a huge smile, and always facing toward the light. I am an active, free-spirited, otherwise healthy woman thats deeply passionate about the Chicago music community. For the past five years, I’ve been working as a professional DJ, spreading joy and connection through music. Continuing to share my gifts by spreading love through music with the world is more than a just a career — it’s my calling.

In May 2025, I began aggressive treatment under the care of my team at Northwestern IL. My plan included countless rounds of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, followed by a double mastectomy, radiation, and long-term aftercare. (see updates below for most current treatment course)

I’m turning to my community for support. The road ahead will bring not only physical and emotional challenges but also significant financial burdens as well. Your help will go directly toward the cost of my treatments, surgeries, recovery, and ongoing care — all of which will impact my life for years to come.
