Dear Friends,

I'm reaching out to you, my close friends and community, for something deeply important to me.

If you’re reading this, it is because you’ve been a meaningful part of my life and are aware of the journey I’ve been on trying to heal from a chronic condition and chronic pain over the past three years of my life. If this is new to you, it’s because I’ve worked hard to navigate this experience more privately, handling our interactions with poise while silently (and humorously, at times! - laughter is the best medicine) carrying this on my own.

This past summer, my symptoms have worsened significantly, to the point that my quality of life and daily activities began to be very compromised. After visiting multiple doctors—ranging from traditional Western medicine to alternative healing practitioners—I was given various diagnoses, including fibromyalgia, peripheral neuropathy, hypothyroidism, and low-level autoimmune disease. To different levels, these explain the severe, constant physical pain and heightened sensitivities I experience daily.

While I choose not to buy into fear, nor identify with diagnoses; and I do feel strong in my heart most days, I can’t deny that this journey is honestly more than I can carry alone.

My inner rebel does want to handle this all alone, but my wiser self admits this is too much to juggle on my own.

As you read this, I am currently abroad receiving medical treatment. I was blessed to receive financial support from my family to cover most of the initial costs; but my progress and healing are coming more slowly than I hoped. The ongoing medical and living expenses are becoming increasingly overwhelming. I am reaching out as I would be so grateful to receive your support to help continue my journey to heal, so I don’t have to further carry this alone, or strain my family in Brazil at this time.
