Gia is a bright and resilient 12-year-old who has been bravely facing a very tough and unexpected health battle. In early 2024, she began experiencing severe migraines, dizzy spells, and involuntary muscle spasms. After numerous tests, doctors discovered a tumor embedded in her skull, which led to a 4.5-hour neurosurgery where part of her skull had to be removed to eradicate the tumor. Post-surgery, Gia has suffered complications including debilitating pain, balance issues, dizzy spells, muscle spasms, and vision issues that haven’t gotten better.
Doctors continued to research Gia’s symptoms. She had a bone study conducted recently which led to the discovery of a second tumor on her hip joint. Gia’s condition has been diagnosed as Fibrous Dysplasia, a rare bone tumor condition. Her next course of treatment is now being evaluated.
Her family connected with a specialist who referred Gia to experts at Philadelphia Children’s Hospital. This team specializes in treating fibrous dysplasia in children, offering hope for better answers and care.
Gia’s road to recovery has been extremely difficult for her and her family. It has been filled with 3-4 weekly doctor and hospital visits, more testing, various health care expenses, and mounting medical bills, placing a heavy financial strain on Gia’s family. They are doing everything possible to get her the best treatment and care, but they need support.
This is where you can make a difference. Your donation can help Gia access the specialized treatment she desperately needs, while easing the financial burden on her family and allowing them to focus on her healing and care.
Please consider contributing or sharing Gia’s story to spread the word. Every bit of support brings Gia closer to a healthier, happier future. Thank you for being a part of Gia’s healing journey.
