Ghost’s Story

We got Ghost when he was just 8 weeks old — a big, clumsy bundle of paws who didn’t realise how big he was going to grow. From day one, he’s been gentle, loving, and full of personality. He’s the kind of dog who carries his teddies around the house, drags them onto the sofa, and suckles them for comfort. He’s always been our shadow and our constant.

Ghost is currently 4 years old and will be 5 in February, which makes this even harder to accept. He’s still young, still full of life, still happy in himself. He loves his walks, sniffs everything like it’s the most important job in the world, and still gets excited to be outside — sometimes so much that he doesn’t want to come back in.

Recently, we noticed his lymph nodes had swollen and after tests, our world stopped: Ghost has been diagnosed with B-cell lymphoma. Hearing those words has been devastating. Despite the diagnosis, he’s still eating, sleeping, wagging his tail, and being himself — which somehow makes this even more painful.

We were referred to a specialist, but the cost of screening and chemotherapy has been quoted at £11,000, which is far beyond what we can afford. Unfortunately, our pet insurance will not pay out, meaning we are facing these costs alone. We’re doing everything we can to explore options, but we don’t want money alone to decide how much comfort, dignity, or time Ghost gets.

This fundraiser is to help us:

• access treatment where possible

• manage medication and care to keep him comfortable

• give Ghost the best quality of life we can for as long as we’re lucky enough to have him
