**UPDATED 9/2/25**
Hello, my name is Sarah. I am a concerned US citizen living near the D.C. metro area. Almost a year ago I became friends with a wonderfully kind and humble man, Ahmed. He is a dear friend of mine who I contact regularly and I have the privilege to host a campaign for his beautiful mother, Ghada Ghanem. Living in north Gaza, Ghada is severly struggling to support her family and survival is becoming harder and harder.
I am raising funds on behalf of my friend Ghada in order for her to afford food, water, shelter, and medicine in a time of extreme famine and active conflict.
Just these past few days (September 2nd) the Israeli forces have advanced displacement and relocation to the south may be imminent for Ghada and her family. Fleeing to the south will require funds to be able to rent land for the tent and also the tent itself and other basic supplies such as transportation and food. Nothing in Gaza comes free and survival is expensive. If Ghada and her family choose to stay in northern Gaza, they will still need to pay rent in October to continue staying where they are now. The funds collected in this campaign will be used towards securing housing and food.
I want you to think of the most inspiring and powerful woman you know in your life, and the lengths at which she would go for the people she cares for. That image would be similar to how I have come to know Ghada. She has experienced atrocities of such a horrible extent, that it is a wonder to me how she remains so hopeful and so strong. She is the mother of a beautiful family, and raised two beautiful children who grew up to be indispensable pillars of their community, despite her husband‘s, their father‘s, untimely death when they were only infants. Despite continued hardship and impossible conditions, Ghada has used everything she has to not only survive but also to inspire everyone around her.
Unfortunately, the war on Gaza has destroyed her home, her livelihood, and all of her belongings. Above all, she is struggling to gain access to the medical care and basic needs. Ghada is an older woman with a heart condition, a bad knee, and myriad other issues that have arisen and worsened due to the genocidal conditions. The situation is worsening rapidly as Gaza remains under attack. Ghada needs your kindness to survive.
The donations from this fundraiser will be transferred to Ghada for her use in acquiring food, clean water, and medicine when these things are available. Some money may be used for travel within Gaza or buying other things, like clothes, hygiene products, as needed. When medical treatment is available to her she will use these funds to seek it. Attached to this campaign are documents outlining her various medical conditions. When the war is over, she will need money to get proper medical care and rebuild her house.
This is why I am asking for your help to support Ghada and her family today. If you can donate, that would be greatly appreciated. If you are unable to donate, please share Ghada’s story with your family and friends. All of the money we receive will go towards helping Ghada secure water, food, shelter, and medicine. I look forward to updating you on the situation.
