- Carlyle and Gertrude Thomas have always been a source of strength and kindness to those around them. On Monday, January 26th, their lives changed forever when a devastating house fire took everything from them. Gertrude, 85, survived the fire, but tragically lost her husband, Carlyle Thomas, along with her home and all her belongings. The Somerton Community has come together to support Gertrude during this unimaginable time, showing just how much she means to everyone who knows her. Gertrude’s neighbor Scott and a young man in the neighborhood ran in and valiantly tried to save both however could not get to Carlyle..
Now, Gertrude is rebuilding from scratch. She is currently residing in Arizona, far from the home and memories she cherished. The funds raised through this GoFundMe will go directly toward helping Gertrude with her immediate needs—covering funeral expenses, providing clothing and personal necessities, and giving her the support she needs to start over. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference in her journey to recovery.
Please consider donating to help Gertrude as she navigates this difficult chapter. If you are unable to give, sharing this fundraiser with your friends and community can also make a huge impact. Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support.
